European Feminist Initiative
for another Europe
say NO to the
« European Simplified Treaty »

All attempts to make this text adopted by force and in non-transparency are anti-democratic and non legitimate! The orientation of the text is the one to which the people of France and Netherlands have overwhelmingly said NO by rejecting the Constitutional Treaty in 2005.

EFI calls for the RESISTANCE

Of all of you who consider that there is an urgent need to radically change the policies of the European Union.

This “mini-treaty” will complete the treaties of Maastricht, Nice and Amsterdam that are now governing the European Union. If the word «CONSTITUTION» was absent, it would be not to face all of those who have said NO in year 2005. This text would not, in the same way, make any reference to the Charta of Fundamental Rights.
  • That means a hardening of the ultra liberal and patriarchal base of the European Union Policies.
  • The goal of the European leaders and Heads of States of the EU countries is to go fast,( possibility of an agreement on the principles between the 27 countries of EU during the European Council on the next 21st and 22th of June).
An intergovernmental conference could be mandated to give a second life to the Constitutional Treaty rejected by France and Netherlands in 2005, in order to get as soon as possible an agreement on the text before the European Elections in 2009.

That means adoption, without a debate and without consulting The European people will!
  • It is necessary and urgent to change the direction of the European policies. Some concretes proposals are existing.
  • Our alternative feminist proposals for another Europe have already got the support of more than 2000 feminists – men and women – in 35 countries, on the base of our EFI platform. Join them! Contact : ife@efi-europa.org
